The Thought Atom experiments, 2019

I propose the term The Network of Thought to describe a reality of diagramming that emphasises the departure of thought, which has the potential to merge networks to create the conceptual diagram. My interest is creating thought-to-matter assemblages, called Thought Atoms, which host a hive of conscious and non-conscious thoughts. These reactive shapes act freely in a space and explore both the ‘inside’ and ‘outside’ of our reality.

Situated at the core of my practice is the transition of thought to matter, binding the virtual and the actual together to energise new forms of the diagram. I choose to dwell in the shifting spaces between machine and matter; intuitive and reasoned; actual and virtual, allowing a new reality to unfold for myself and the viewer. The networks with which I collaborate with are both human and non-human, as I respond to the active echo of the vitality of matter.

During 2017 I lost half of my sight, resulting in a deep reflective period of sensory exploration. My focus remained drifting between language (reading, writing, listening, responding) and physical, mental and emotional interactions with my environment.
